In March 2010 I did a 3 day 2 night hike in Shenandoah National Park with my 2 son’s Ed and Mike. It was quite the adventure. The first day went well and we set up camp on a ledge overlooking a city in VA, not sure what city it was but we had a great view of the sunset and the entire city about 3000 feet below. In the morning we got our food back from the tree we put it in to keep it away from the bears and had breakfast… We hiked until about 2 pm when my son Mike remembered he left the keys to his car in Ed’s truck. We started hiking from Ed’s truck and were heading to Mike’s car which was our ride back to Ed’s truck and home but now we had no keys. It was a 10 or 12 mile hike back to Ed’s truck and at 2 pm that was out of the question. Fortunately the AT running through Shenandoah National Park parallels the Sky Line Drive so we called Mikes Wife and she drove the 60 miles to where we were and rescued us from our dilemma. It just made the trip more memorable. Here are some pictures and a short video of this trip.
