Hiking 7 Falls State Park loop trail

Today, Dean, Becky, and I hike 7 Falls loop trail in Higganum CT, this was our Hike N Praise hike for March.  We hiked  a little under 2 ½ miles and there were some challenges like crossing raging streams with very slippery rocks do to some early morning rain but we made it with out anybody falling or getting wet.  We checked out the cave there and noticed up high near the entrance of the cave was carved into the rock 1890 one hundred and twenty four years ago someone put that there.. After the hike we went to China City  for a bite to eat which was a great finish to a good hike.

Check out the video of the hike here.

Winter Hiking on Bear Mt.

Dean, Anthony, and myself hiked up to the Appalachian trail from the Undermountian trail in Salisbury CT on March 1st  and came back down on March 2nd..  There was over a foot of snow on the ground and temps in the teens and twenties, it was cold….  We met quit a few people on this hike and there were 4 other men camping at the Basie Brook camp site which was our destination so all total there were 7 of us camping there…  We had a good time making new friends and learning new thing about hiking especially how to keep your bladder water from freezing, that was very helpful to me since I had a problem drinking on the way up with my bladder  hose frozen solid..  When you draw water from your bladder through the hose and are finished drinking,  blow air back into the hose and it will not freeze that way.  I have posted a link to a video and some pictures of this hike below.. Oh, one more thing, always bring duck tape!  I tore my paints pretty good and had no way to fix them but one of the campers had some duck tape which saved the day for me… A big thank you to a Good Samaritan… It was a little tough sleeping at night even inside of a tent which is 10 degrees warmer than the air outside of the tent, but breathing air below 32 degrees makes you cold even with the best sleeping bag and that was my problem so I would wake up cold and cover my face as long as I could but that made it feel like I could not breath so I probably got 4 hours sleep out of a possible 10 hours that  I was in my sleeping bag..
